The underground hydrosphere is the source of drinking water, the possibility of receiving medicinal mineral water, using the heat of the earth and extraction of a number of industries micronutrients.
To underground hydrosphere all this provided – must be kept safe, and it means rational use of its resources, control and prevent pollution, to study the medicinal properties of mineral waters with the aim of effectively using them. Many graduates of the Department of hydrogeology work in geological expeditions and other organizations involved in the study and exploitation of drinking and medical waters and their protection.
In accordance with the specialization “Protection of underground hydrosphere” at the Department of hydrogeology teaches the following courses:

- Monitoring of the hydrogeological environment
- Methods for cleaning up groundwater
- The basics of water management and organization of drinking water supply
- Medical hydrogeology
